Last week, pupils from across our ten schools came together for Let's Sing, our annual Trust-wide singing showcase. Across two wonderful evenings, children celebrated this year's theme of Books & Reading, chosen to support the DfE and National Literacy Trust's National Year of Reading 2026 campaign.

Performing to audiences of family and friends, pupils delivered readings, sang as individual or small group school choirs, and joined together for three ‘whole choir’ songs along with all the other choirs. For many, it was their first opportunity to perform in front of a large audience.

Events like these are far more than concerts, they provide valuable enrichment opportunities that help children build confidence, develop oracy skills and experience the pride that comes from stepping onto a stage and sharing their talents with others. It was inspiring to see so many pupils rise to the challenge and perform with such enthusiasm and professionalism.

The evening perfectly reflected our Trust values of collaboration, support and challenge. Children worked together across schools, staff supported them every step of the way, and pupils embraced the challenge of learning, rehearsing and performing over several months.
The exceptional behaviour shown throughout both evenings was a credit to every child who took part. Their encouragement of one another, both on and off the stage, helped create a warm and uplifting atmosphere that was enjoyed by all who attended.

Sue Wardlow, Greensand CEO said,
“There is something uniquely uplifting about hearing children sing together. Last week's performances were a powerful reminder of the importance of music and singing, the joy of reading and the incredible things that can happen when young people are given the opportunity to shine.”

A huge thank you to our choir leaders and staff who dedicated countless hours to preparing the children, and to the parents and carers whose support and encouragement helped make the event such a success.
