Meaningful Learning

This week we take look at the last  strand from the Greensand PACE model: Building Knowledge and Skills.

Sarah Cottingham is a former English teacher and now works on the Learning Design team at Ambition Institute. This one page summary nicely sums up what existing research from the world of cognitive science tells us about students ability to learn more meaningfully when they assimilate new ideas with their existing knowledge. Planning for this in our lessons takes advantage of each of the principles outlined here.
